Jesus didn’t experience eternal death on the cross, or else He would still be there! He didn’t experience annihaliation either. He did experience God’s wrath in sufficient quantity to purchase our redemption. My understanding is that when the punishing is complete (levels of suffering) then his existence ceases completing the second death. We have no way of knowing how long, or what this punishing entails beyond earthly descriptions of the event which communicate it is not any place you would want to be, even for a moment. I do not believe that they just pop out of existence without suffering involved, for they have to pay the price because they rejected the payment our Savior made.
